    ARRA is an unprecedented effort to jumpstart the U.S. economy and to create or save hundreds of thousands of jobs. Workforce and job training assistance will provide workers with job training opportunities and help ease the burden of the recession on workers and their employers by providing extended and expanded unemployment benefits.

Senior Community Service Employment Program

Provides training and part-time employment opportunities to low income individuals 55 and over.

Amount of Award: $451,164.00

Vocational Rehabilitation – Independent Living State Grants

Assist individuals with disabilities to live independently by providing financial assistance.

Employment Services

Provides employment services and reemployment services in accordance with the Wagner Peyser Act.  Funding to support one-stop career centers.  Job seekers benefit from job search and placement services, assessment of skill levels, job search workshops and referral to employers.  Employers benefit through assistance with special recruitment needs, analysis of hard-to-fill jobs and assistance with job restructuring.

Services for Older Blind Individuals

Financial assistance to provide, expand and improve independent living services to the older blind population.

Services designed to help individuals with disabilities prepare for and to achieve gainful employment.

Unemployment Insurance Administration

Funding for administering and improving the unemployment compensation benefit and tax operations for Kentucky.

Workforce Investment Act – Adult

Provides workforce investment activities that increase the employment, retention, and earnings of low income adult participants, and increase occupational skill attainment by the participants. This program is designed to increase employment, as measured by entry into unsubsidized employment, retention in unsubsidized employment after entry into employment.  Services are available to workers and employers through Kentucky’s network of One-Stop Career Centers.

Workforce Investment Act  - Dislocated Worker

Provide dislocated workers with workforce preparation, training and reemployment services to return to work.  Services are available to workers through Kentucky’s network of One-Stop Career Centers.

Workforce Investment Act – Youth

Help low income youth, between the ages of 14 and 21, acquire the educational and occupational skills, training, and support needed to achieve academic and employment success and successfully transition to careers and productive adulthood.  Year-round employment and training services including the summer youth program.  Services are provided by a network of 10 local workforce areas serving all 120 counties.
